Michele Schaffer and her husband Allen have four adult children, David, Andrew-AMC, Christopher, and Kaytlin. Michele currently works for the New Albany Plain Local School District as an Intervention Specialist. She joined the Board of Directors of Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita Support, Inc., in 2006. With the help of the amazing Loon Crew, she has planned the Annual Conference since 2010. In her free time, Michele enjoys reading, crafting, and volunteering. Michele and her family currently reside in Columbus, Ohio.
Betsy, mom to Jake (16, AMCer) and Karl (10), has finally ended her career as a professional student and has begun to enjoy a little “free” time! Betsy, her wife Andrea, and the boys spend much of their time doing activities with Scouts including camping trips and service projects. Jake is a soon-to-be Eagle Scout and Karl is currently finishing up his time in Cub Scouts. They also enjoy camping as a family with their two dogs, Loki and Thor.
Maureen was born in Chile and grew up all over South America until she moved to Miami at the age of 15. She met her husband Armand, and they started their family there before moving to Orlando after Hurricane Andrew. Her grandson Sean is an AMCer, and they were lucky enough to find out about AMCSI months before the first conference in Chicago. She has been a part of AMCSI since then and currently enjoys being a loon and heading the grandparent’s group. Maureen is an accountant and enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
Ana has a masters in business. After working in the private sector for almost 2 decades, she now enjoys charity work including big brothers big sisters, CASA and of course AMCSI. She loves spending time with friends and family and looks forward to vacations with her husband and two boys.
Jan Shea (she/her) calls Richmond, VA home. She and her husband, James, embrace life to the fullest through adventure, travel, and laughter. Jan is the mother of Finley, Lydia (AMC Angel), and Groot (fur baby), an amateur paddleboarder, and a loyal friend. Professionally, Jan works with young adults with disabilities as they transition out of high school into what comes next. Jan brings warmth and commitment to her role, embodying the spirit of service in everything she does.
Beth is a mom to 3 kids at home, including 18 year old AMCer Taylin. Beth works as an assistive technology professional for Techvision, providing instruction to students who are blind or who have low vision. She also contracts with local school divisions to provide evaluations and resources for students and their IEP teams. Beth was recently appointed by the Governor of Virginia to the Virginia State Rehabilitation Council for the Blind and Visually Impaired. She also serves as a board member and officer for the local Center for Independent Living (Valley Associates for Independent Living) and in her spare time she volunteers for the local SPCA raising neonatal kittens.
