NOTE: if you are arriving to Norfolk on Tuesday to site see, everything is closed on Tuesday.
AMCSI strives to provide a Conference that provides not only support to our community, but education as well. To do this, unfortunately it costs money. The VOLUNTEER planning team strives to keep costs as affordable as possible, but like everything else, costs continue to rise and donations are few. Therefore, we must charge a fee to help cover the costs of the event.
If you already have a Membership please skip Step 1 & go to Step 2 “Conference Registration” button.
You will need your Membership # to register for conference.
Anyone who will be attending or participating in ANY AMCSI functions, including but not limited to sessions, AMC prom, or dinner, must be registered for the conference. This includes, but is not limited to, friends, personal care assistants, nurses, extended family, etc. This is for the safety and security of our attendees. Children (anyone under the age of 18) MUST be registered with an adult.
Since you do not have a family membership, any additional registrations would be at the non-member prices. Consider joining with a family membership! A family membership would be an option for those living in the same household. Others would need their own memberships.
If you have a family membership, your membership includes two adults and any minor children in the family. Therefore, your children can be registered at member rates. Adult children (18 and over) each need their OWN membership to register at member rates.
When you become a member, you will receive a Membership Confirmation Email with a link to view your Membership card & it should be in the bottom right corner of your Membership card image.
If your child holds the membership in their name, only your child can register as a member. You and your second child would need to register at NON Member rates. (Consider a Family Membership!)
No. If your child is 18 or over, they are no longer considered a Minor Child. They would need to hold their own membership to AMCSI in order to register as a member.
The ticket price is for all 3-days.
AMCSI offers the following refund policy that is agreed to when you register. All refund requests must be made in writing and sent to bod@amcsupport.org. Refund requests made via social media WILL NOT be honored. The date stamp on the email will determine the amount of refund according to the following schedule:
Refunds will typically be processed within 14 days of official notification and within the refund limits.
Hilton Norfolk The Main, 100 EAST MAIN STREET, NORFOLK, VIRGINIA, 23510, USA
The hotel is $129 + tax and fees per night. ($157 per night plus parking if applicable)
After you register for the conference, you will receive a confirmation email. In that email will be a link to reserve your hotel room.
When you are on AMCSI’s designated Conference Booking site, you must select “Show Accessible Rooms”. If you do not select this option “Accessible Room”, only standard rooms will be listed as options.
Accessible rooms are on a first come, first access basis. AMCSI does NOT assign accessible rooms.
Most hotels have lockout/connecting rooms. Please contact the hotel to cofirm their availability.
Yes, you may use a debit card to reserve your room. Please be aware the hotel will charge one night’s room and tax/fees to the card at the time of reservation. Also please note that when using a debit card during the event, the hotel will place a “30% Hold” on the reservation to cover any potential charges made to the room. Those funds will not be available until after they are refunded 5-10 days after checkout. This is not something under AMCSI’s control. Please contact the hotel directly with any questions.
EX: If you have a 5 night stay at your contracted $129 rate per night ($153.29, after taxes). Total Hold on your Debit card for the stay would be $766.45+$299.94 = $1066.39 total hold, with $299.94 refunded if no charges are applied to the room.
Every hotel has different policies regarding room cancellations. Please contact the hotel directly.
The three days prior to the start conference and the three days after conference ends are called “Shoulder Dates.” Based on hotel availability, rooms may be booked at our discounted rates on these dates.
Yes, there are laundry facilities located in the hotel.
As of 1/22/2025, the hotel offers both Self-Parking ($20) and Valet-Parking ($28) per night. AMCSI recommends utilizing Valet parking if you have a vehicle over 6′ 8″.
The Hotel Parking Garage has a 6’ 8” clearance. Oversize parking for vehicles over 7 foot will be at the mall or at Harbor Park, approximately a 4-5 minute walk from the hotel.
There are several surface lots and parking garages near the Hilton Norfolk The Main hotel.
All parking garages are owned by the City of Norfolk and prices will change during peak season.
For those with handicapped signs/placards/license plates:
Park FREE at any on-street metered space for the posted time (2 hours at most downtown meters, except Waterside, which is 15 minutes). Does not apply to parking garages. (Source: https://norfolk.gov/FAQ.aspx?QID=145)
Metered Parking is FREE after 6 PM every Monday through Saturday. Parking is free ALL DAY on SUNDAY. (Source: https://norfolk.gov/FAQ.aspx?QID=145)
Cedar Grove Surface Lot: 1000 Monticello Avenue
(I personally do not recommend this lot. It’s dangerous towards this area especially at night!! ALSO, this is SUPER far from the Hilton — not walkable)
East Street Surface Lot: 100 East Street
(this one is kind of far from the Hilton. It’s a really long walk)
West Plume Street Garage: 135 West Plume St.
(It’s safer in my opinion and a bit closer to the Hilton. Also, i couldn’t find the clearance measurement.)
Union Street Surface Lot: 999 East Main Street
(really far from the Hilton)
Waterside Garage: 50 Martin’s Lane
(Has A 7′ 2” clearance)
AMCSI recommends that, if at all possible, you stay at the Hilton Norfolk The Main for several reasons. We have a contract with the hotel to fill a specific number of rooms (at a discounted rate) in return for use of the meeting space. If AMCSI does NOT fill the contracted block during the conference, we are charged a large fee. By staying at the conference hotel, you are helping AMCSI by doing your part to help support the conference. Staying at the conference hotel also provides greater opportunities to connect with other families and the speakers. Families have shared that they felt they missed out on parts of the conference by staying at another property.
Hilton Norfolk The Main, 100 EAST MAIN STREET, NORFOLK, VIRGINIA, 23510, USA
The WHOLE family is WELCOME to attend! We try to have sessions for everyone.
AMCSI provides a room for Children’s Programming. This is NOT CHILDCARE. An adult or responsible caregiver over the age of 14 is required to stay with all children. Parents/Caregivers MAY NOT LEAVE their child unattended for any reason in the Children’s Programming sessions.
Your child may attend the sessions with you; however, please know that some of the medical sessions may include photographs of medical procedures that a child may find disturbing. We also ask that if your child needs your attention, you respect the speaker and attendees and care for them outside of the session room.
AMCSI will not publish our list of attendees for privacy reasons but we do include a blank page in our program for you to write down contact info from families you chose to exchange that with as well as have an “I attended” thread on our forums after the conference for those who choose to participate.
AMCSI will not announce the location for the 21st annual AMC Conference until the closing ceremonies of the 20th annual AMCSI Conference. This is, and will continue to be, an AMCSI tradition. Our conference crew is an all volunteer unpaid group that is working VERY hard on making 2025 a success. If we announced 2026 before the end of the 2025 Conference, they would be bombarded with questions.
To respect the privacy of individuals in these highly personal sessions, AMCSI tries to maintain an atmosphere of confidentiality and promote peer to peer connections during these sessions.
We have adults with arthrogryposis serving as moderators in this session, this is to assure that topics discussed are age appropriate.
This hotel does not provide shuttle service. The hotel is approximately 9 miles from the Norfolk International Airport.. Uber X rom the airport to the hotel are estimated at $29 each way.
