June 30, 2005, was the day www.amcsupport.org was launched by our founder, Ani Samargian. This website was the seed for Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita Support, Inc., becoming an official non-profit two years later.
Every year, on this day, we spread the word about arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) over all social media platforms. Join the movement and help us tell the world about AMC using our hashtags #blueforAMC & #AMCstrong! There are many great ways to get involved with AMCSI & celebrate on June 30th!
The AMCSI Board of Directors selected the color blue as the official June 30th, Awareness Day color in 2010. In 2006, blue was selected as the website and message board theme.
Confirmed so far:
🔷 Niagara Falls, NY
🔷 Philadelphia City Hall, PA
Reach out to your mayor’s office, city council, parks department, or state and federal representatives and ask them to recognize AMC Awareness Day by lighting a local landmark blue on June 30.
If your request is approved, send us the details and photos so we can share it with the AMC community:

Download the official AMCSI AMC Awareness Day Flag and have it printed locally so you can proudly display it at your home, school, workplace, community event, or anywhere you celebrate AMC Awareness Day.
The print-ready PDF is free to download & designed for a large, eye-catching flag that can be enjoyed year after year.

NOTE: The file is for your flag printer to work with. If they already have the blue flags then they can remove the background in the file on their end. If they do not and will be printing the background on a white flag then it is there for them to use.
There are several ways you can help spread awareness on Arthrogryposis Awareness Day:
A proclamation is a formal public statement. It is a major statement made in front of an audience or the authoritative word on some subject. It’s most often used in an official or government context. Proclamations can be created at the local, state, and federal level.
A proclamation is an official document to commemorate a specific time period (day, week, or month) for the purpose of raising awareness about an issue, or celebrating milestones. Therefore, if a proclamation has been issued in the past, a new request still needs to be requested each year.
Proclamations are a great way to raise awareness within your community about arthrogryposis. You can use the proclamation for media outreach and social media.
Municipalities include: Governor’s office, Town, Cities, Boroughs, Counties or Parishes. A city or county website may list appropriate contacts.
A state Governor, Mayor, First Selectman, City Council or County Commission’s office
Email AMCSIBOD@gmail.com to sign up for your state. We will maintain a list so our volunteers don’t duplicate efforts. If there is another volunteer working on your state, we can put you in contact with them to join forces.
Most states request submission of a request 2 months prior to AMC Awareness Day, June 30 each year.
Follow up 10 to 14 days after you submit the request.
Share with AMCSI and the AMC community and flood the internet with photos. Don’t forget to add hashtags #AMCAwareness, #arthrogryposis and #AMCAwareness2019
Write a letter, post on officials Facebook and\or Twitter account to the mayor, governor or legislators and thank them for their support in bringing official attention to Arthrogryposis.
