Scarfest is a one-day festival where families gather to share their stories, make new friends, and to bring hope and awareness to one another. Scarfests can be held in different cities throughout the world. Scarman dolls and coloring books are handed out to all who would like to create their own Scarman. The day is filled with games and activities for kids of all ages and an opportunity to hear Ward’s story. Scarfest is held approximately every other month and can be blended with other organizations and events.
ScarMan is a character originally created by Ward Foley to offer hope, inspiration, love, and self acceptance to all. Born with numerous birth defects(Arthrogryposis, clubbed hands and feet etc.), Ward experienced over 40 surgeries that left him with multiple scars covering his body. From these scars, ScarMan was born. Since Scarman “birth” many years ago he has become the symbol of self confidence and hope to all over the world.
“We all have scars, some we can see some we can’t.” -Ward Foley
Every scar on Scarman is real and every scar has a story. We can grow from our scars, from our struggles, and from our failures. Scarman celebrates that growth while helping us accept and love everything about ourselves.
